CANADIAN TUXEDO

There's no denying I love denim. 

I wear it just about everyday. My jeans collection is outrageous.  Something about denim just strikes a cord with me. It's casual, laidback and effortless, comfortable and functional with an air of nonchalance all rolled into one. When I don't know what to wear, I throw on some denim and I'm set. 

And in the vein of my last post, it looks even better when you layer up.

LAYER UP

Hallelujah for Autumn. I love this time of year. It comes at the perfect moment, giving us a reprieve from the sweltering Sydney heat. The days are still sunny but the crispness in the air means layering is essential. i.e. more clothes per outfit. And this makes me a very happy chappy. 

Since my trip to HK, I have cleared out my entire wardrobe. I'm starting fresh, so to speak. My aim for this season/year/rest of my life is to collect great staple pieces, and eventually build myself a wardrobe of classics. I'll be sticking to a colour palette of black, navy, beige, ox blood and white and greys. And I'll only be buying pieces that I know I'll still want to wear in a few seasons time. 

On that note, here's some current autumn inspo.. 

THE TIME IS NOW

I can barely sit still long enough to type this as I am literally bouncing off the walls with excitement. I leave for Hong Kong on Wednesday.... Yep, its finally here. And although I am feeling a tad bit nervous, my main emotion right now is full-blown hysteria. Keep in mind that I haven't been shopping for a solid month and have sold half my wardrobe on ebay. Serious retail therapy is on the cards. 

I also can't wait to see what fabrics are available over there (Ahhhm, yea the main reason I'm going) and to start seeing my range come to life. Shit's about to get really really real! 

So for now, I bid you all adieu and I shall see you on the other side. 

(On a side note, MBFWA started today... tis' a shame I won't be here to see most of the coverage, but you do what ya gotta do, right ;P ahaha)

Due to my lack of retail therapy at the moment (saving sucks!), I have been indulging in fake shopping and outfit curating on polyvore.  

Can't wait to go beast mode in Hong Kong. Safe to say I will need another suitcase to get it all home.

JUXTAPOSE

In our current world of photoshop and digital retouching, I have come across some true artistry - the work of Irish photographer Richard Mosse. Using a special type of infrared film, he has captured these shots of the Democratic Republic of Congo. 

The country is plagued by violence with rebels fighting the military on a daily basis. I'm blown away by the juxtaposition of the soldiers and people of the Congo, against these breathtaking landscapes of hot pink, crimson and lavender. Both stunning and haunting in equal measure.

GOOD SPORT

Sport luxe is one of those trendy terms thats been thrown around regularly for the past few seasons. There's nothing new about sportwear influencing fashion, yet right now, the line between the two is so blurred its virtually non-existant.  

Trainers outside the gym no longer make you look like your channelling Jerry Springer, but actually lift your fashion cred considerably. And wearing an oversized basketball jersey (with heels no less) is totally acceptable.
